Our Dad, Ed Sykora, grew up as a farm boy in Penelope, Texas where he worked hard on the family farm. After graduating from Penelope High, trying other careers and getting married, Dad went to work for the Waco Ford dealership in 1955 working in the parts department. In 1961 HJ Kozelski made him the offer to come work at Kozelski Motors in West as the parts manager. Ed worked hard and also began to fill in as a salesman on the showroom floor, later becoming Mr. Kozelski's right hand man as sales manager.

After Mr. Kozelski passed away in 1967, Dad and Mrs. Kozelski became partners with Ed running the dealership from day to day. Starting in the 1970s, Ed began putting the kids to work, with Becky and Dianne working in parts, and then Ronnie and Ken changing oil and washing cars. The 1980s brought Pat and Brian to parts and service. Through the years almost all of Ed and Dorothy's ten children have worked at least part time during their school years and the boys have all stayed in the automotive business at Sykora Family Ford with Pat eventually moving on to the Smith South Plains dealerships in the other west Texas.

Kozelski Motors became Sykora Family Ford in 1984 and three years later Ed realized the dream of building a new facility by Interstate 35. In 1997 we added on our quick service area to handle maintenance operations with greater speed. 2005 saw the addition of our state of the art automatic carwash that also helps keep customers smiling. Ed Sykora originally purchased the land with the idea of building a bigger dealership so we could take better care of our customers. Our customers have agreed with the experience they have received and have ranked Sykora Family Ford in the top two percent of all Ford dealerships nationally. As of 2014, Sykora Family Ford has earned Ford's highest award for customer satisfaction 20 years and is working on number 21.

Sykora Family Ford branched off into the aftermarket parts arena with the grand opening of Rodina Automotive in early August of 2010. Located in the old Molly B's Antique building just north of the dealership, Rodina Automotive has a full line of Auto Value auto parts inside with an extensive inventory to meet all the automotive part needs of the area. Rodina Sprayliner operations continues to provide custom sprayliners for all makes of vehicles with an equipment upgrade that surpasses factory installed quality. In late 2010 Rodina began offering custom window tint jobs with its partnership with Llumar window tint and in June of 2011 Rodina Autoglass began installing autoglass for the community.

In May of 2011 Sykora Family Ford opened a state-of-the-art body shop just north of the carwash and became the first body shop in central Texas to use a waterborne paint system that is better for the environment and provides superior color match. After 40+ years without a body shop, Sykora Family Ford can once again handle all of its customer's needs in one location.

With Ford's help, Sykora Family Ford went through a major renovation in 2016. The Showroom has doubled in size where three vehicles are displayed as well as a waiting area for our customers. The Service Department has added a Quick Lane that provides oil changes, vehicle check ups, and tire needs to make sure that our customers' vehicles are safe on the road. A new detail building was added behind the dealership, expanding our wash rack to provide detail services for sales, body shop, and customer details.

In 2018, Sykora Family Ford experienced a major milestone celebrating 50 years that the dealership has been in the Sykora Family.

Sadly, in June 2018, our Dad, Ed Sykora, passed away. Even though he is no longer hear with us physically, we know that he is watching us everyday taking care of all of our customers, just like he taught us.
